Javier Niño Mexican Magical Realism

Javier Nino was born in 1950, in a small rustic home, near the playa, close to the central cathedral in Puerto Vallarta. His family lineage is part of the original fisherman of the area and the ancient Nahuatl population of Cabo Corrientes. Javier's childhood was spent exploring nature, playing in the jungles, rios and Colonial of Emiliano Zapata. Javier's father left his family of 6, when he was 5. His maternal great grandfather and grandfather (Mayor of Puerto Vallarta) gave their care, guidance, love and belief in Javier by sharing their rich local oral histories of the region daily with him into his adulthood. Many paintings of Javier Nino portray these stories and memories. Hidden and obvious to the viewer, Javier's Nino's paintings offer an opportunity to participate and explore the authentic culture and immense nature of this magical Bay, of a time far away but still vibrant today. 

Javier Nino's projectory as an artist started very young, at 9 years old his drawings caught the attention of Manuel Lepe, who gave him his first colors and soon after purchase one of his first paintings encouraging him to be an artist. Manuel Lepe was the top Puerto Vallarta artist of the 60s thru 80's. Javier as a child, worked at many odd jobs to support his family including waiting on Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton at a favorite haunt. Manuel Lepe and other artists of the time encouraged Javier Nino to be the first child of Puerto Vallarta to go to college and recommended he attend the premier art school the University San Carlos in Mexico City. a few years after the university,  Javier Nino's return to Puerto Vallarta as a dedicated career artist.. Lepe's friendship continued and Lepe include Javier in many local art events and international exhibitions. Javier Nino's art career includes important commissions and art exhibitions in many parts of the World. He enjoys representing the natural beauty and history of Mexico.  Today Manuel Lepe, Javier Nino and Ada Colorina are the masters of the Art Vallarta Style. Javier Nino, additionally is the  Premier Indigenous Artist of Puerto Vallarta,  Banderas Bay and Mexico. He is a Mexican treasure and one of the premier oral historians of local folklore and art historian of the Banderas Bay.
